INTERNS FOR FOOD & BEVERAGE
Location: Panama City Beach, Florida
Start Date: May 1st – July 1st, 2008
Program Duration: 12 months
Program Description:
This program offers trainees an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Food & Beverage service industry while learning about American methods and practices of small business operation and management. Trainees may be exposed to food preparation, serving, hosting, inventory control, purchasing, accounting, etc. Trainees will apply classroom knowledge to hands on experience in one of many different settings such as restaurants, cafes, dining rooms and eateries. Please note: placements are not in fine dining establishments.

- Understand the daily operations of a restaurant

- Train in a fast-paced environment and learn to handle multiple priorities with professionalism
Trainee Tasks:
- Provide excellent table and counter service
- Learn the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash and bills according to procedures
- Deliver customer service daily and respond to guest requests in restaurant setting
- Provide service for different levels of formality
- Learn suggestive selling techniques

Applicant Requirements:
- College/University degree and one or more year(s) of work experience in the following fields: hospitality, tourism, business, management, marketing, restaurant management.
- Good English language skills – must be able to easily interact with customers.
- Honest, responsible and display a positive attitude.
- Dependable with a friendly and outgoing personality to provide quality customer service.
Starting Wage: $7.00 – 8.00 + tips per hour
Hours per Week: 32 – 50 (depending on the season)
Housing: $250 per month (approximately)
Transportation: Accommodations will be near the work sites so trainees will not have to travel far. Most trainees use buses and/or bicycles to get around. |
